Dentures

Dentures are a removable prosthetic appliance used by patients to improve chewing as well as aesthetics. Dentures come in two types - complete or partial.

Complete dentures are made for a patient who is missing all of their teeth.  This type utilizes the soft tissue and bone of the jaws for support and stability during chewing.

Partial dentures are made when a patient has some of their teeth remaining.  The remaining teeth are used to help stabilize and support the partial during chewing.  Partial dentures can be used when a fixed bridge is not an option for the patient.

Both complete and partial dentures are made by taking an impression of the upper and lower jaw. Over the next several appointments the denture(s) will be sequentially fabricated.

It is not uncommon for patients to need additional visits to make final adjustments to the denture.
